Errands and Retro Photo Phun... I mean fun...

My friend M called me bright and early this morning wondering if I wanted to go to Cork to run some errands... and possibly see the Queen of England, who is visiting Ireland for the first time ever.
All over the radio today are reports of where the Queen is and what she's doing... when she's expected where and what she said here. The security was insane, and for the first time I've ever known (including Sundays), Cork was empty.

All except for the police, of course. They were out in force. E V E R Y W H E R E you looked, there were Gardai in bright yellow vests, talking into their shoulders and looking at everyone with suspicion.

As for us? We just wanted an almond croissant...

... and some coffee.

My view from the cafe...

Then we decided that all the crowds in the area where Her Royal Highness would be wouldn't be worth the glimpse we might get, so we ended up leaving. We went through a little town on our way to Midleton for some more errands before heading home... and I couldn't resist snapping a few photos. It was too gorgeous not to share.

Their town was tiny, and so was the fire station! This is pretty much all there was of it! Awwwwww...

I liked next this shot in particular... but I'm silly like that.

Then it was home time for me. Our friends and neighbors asked V to help them make Polish Bigos yesterday, so last night, we went over and assembled it and let it cook so it would be ready for today. Bigos is SOOO tasty. It's made with various meats and sausages, sauerkraut, and other delicious things, but those are the two main ingredients. Perhaps soon I shall have to post a recipe! It's something everyone should try at least once.

It sorta looks like sloppy joe in the photo, but when I post the recipe, I promise to take more flattering photos of it!! You'll love it, I promise.
