Quick and Tasty Flavoured Yogurt (or The Blood of your Enemies), a Recipe

This is just a really quick and simple snack I make for lunch or in the evenings for something sweet after dinner. Simply, it's plain Turkish Yogurt with a bit of homemade berry syrup drizzled over the top. Admittedly, before it's stirred it looks a little horrifying...

Usually there's a conversation similar to this, when I make it:

Me - I'm making a snack, do you want anything?
V - What are you having?
Me - "The Blood of my Enemies"
V - ...

But once you stir it, it looks much more appealing.

It tastes the same either way though, and I sort of love the macabreness of the pre-stirred snack! Especially if I'm settling in to watch The Walking Dead.

Recipe:

Blood of your Enemies by Shannon Henszel

Ingredients:
One serving of plain Turkish (or Greek) yogurt
1/4 cup of homemade berry syrup or storebought (the redder, the better). Mine is made from blackberries. Adjust to taste depending on how sweet you would like the end product to be.

Directions:
Pour syrup over the top of your yogurt, stir (or don't) and enjoy!

Finally Together

The metal box my fabric scissors came in when purchased has been floating around my craft area for ages, empty. I don't like putting my scissors in it because they slide around but I couldn't think of a good use for the box and just couldn't bring myself to throw it away!

Today, I thought of the perfect use for it, and for the first time ever, all my crocheting utensils are in one place.

It's a great feeling.

Happy weekend to you!

Ridiculously Smooth Hummus

When we were first living together, my husband told me he doesn't like beans. He said it was something to do with the texture and the blandness. We discussed it further and I decided that he doesn't like beans because of the poor ways they have been prepared. Therefore, I said, "Challenge accepted." and have been basically force feeding him beans in small quantities since that day.

A mutual friend of ours tried to introduce V to the wonders of hummus. It was homemade and he pretty much hated everything about it. Of course he was polite and finished part of the portion he was given, but he hated every second of it.
I re-introduced him to hummus that I bought from Tesco, their Roasted Red Pepper flavour, and he really seemed to enjoy that on some veggies. We also used it instead of mayonnaise on sandwiches and he actually warmed up a bit to it.

About a month ago, I read a recipe where the person shucked their chickpeas, resulting in hummus with a whole new texture, combined with a lucky find of tahini paste at a VERY reasonable price (one could even say I paid beans for this container of tahini... eh? eh?? *elbow, elbow*) - and I knew I had to make it, post haste.

Endless Googling (endless meaning four or five minutes of searching), and I couldn't find or remember the article I had read which just meant one thing: I had to take matters into my own hands.

DIY - Shorten Necklace

I have this cute hematite necklace that I inherited from my mom. It's a sturdy thing, and while I love it, I never really wore it because it is a strange length for me in my opinion. Also, the stones are really smooth, so if I decided to wear it long anyways it always swings and hangs around framing just one boob or the other. So weird! I can't tell you how many times I've grabbed it, hoping it would work with my outfit, only to be disappointed.

Today was actually almost another day where I just looked sadly at my necklace as it hung from its hook...
