Rats, Fats, and little bit of Faith

Happy Thursday, everyone! I must say that i am pretty excited that i have been keeping busy lately. Recently, we had a rat in our bathroom. We poisoned it. The poison that was given to us by V's dad supposedly had a petrifying agent in it so we wouldn't have the "stinky dead rat somewhere in the walls" problem.

Ahh... But we do, and it's pretty raunchy. Fortunately, it's localized to the bathroom, so we can keep the door closed and the window open so the smell isn't soooo bad, but at night or when it's raining i close it and it smells pretty awful. LOL it comes down to how long you can hold your breath sometimes! We read on the internet that dead rats can completely decompose in as little as 7-10 days or as much as 6-7weeks! Hopefully our "friend" is the 7-10 day variety with the smell supposedly "peaking" at 4 days.
*shudder*
It's pretty gross. And yes, we've looked for it to no avail.

So anyhow we get to live with it for somewhere between 7-10 days and 6-7 weeks... hmmm... i'm shooting for probably 18 days... what do you think?
this is day 3.

Speaking of "day-whatever" today is the beginning of week three in my diet and exercise plan.
hahhahahaha... yeah. no. I have to start over. I did great for week one. week two started with missing two days because i was sick and after that i just got out of the mood and Easter came with all it's good things to eat... i fail.
BUT i'm getting back on that horse and hoping i didn't gain too too much. Maybe i stayed the same. Gotta go re-measure and re-check! i feel bad because i've lost all that time where i could have been losing weight instead. :(
boo.

V finished building the shelves in the room upstairs! I'm totally excited to have a place for all our stuff finally! For now it's just going on the shelves as neatly as possible, but eventually we hope to have containers for lots of it with pretty little labels. We originally wanted to paint it with home made milk paint but V would prefer to do it after it has been sanded... and so would i. The wood we have used for the shelves is nice while stuff is on it, but the shelves are all discolored from dirt and old paint... so it will wait a while. I'm just so excited to have shelves! V did a great job on them and i'm so proud! Photos to come.

This coming weekend, i am excited to say that V and i are going to go to a new (to us) church together in our search to find something we both enjoy. I found this church in a search online and it looks like something we'd like. When V came to Cincinnati, he attended the Vineyard with me and really enjoyed it! I even caught him singing along ;-)
When i went to a catholic mass on Easter sunday, i found myself confused and fumbled for when to stand and sit and kneel. In the end i just politely stood when i was supposed to and sat when everyone else did their things. I have a hard time understanding all the things that go on in a catholic mass, but V seemed to really enjoy it too - but he was raised Roman Catholic so a lot of what went on (if not everything) was very familiar to him. I must say, that seeing my husband on his knees, head bowed in prayer really did something great for my heart. It was a beautiful sight. Perhaps my first time seeing him pray? I think maybe.
Anyway- it was amazing. I brought up to him, before we got married, the thought of finding a church we could both go to and enjoy. He's completely for it. We will be attending the church i was raised in, the mormon faith, sometime in the next couple weeks.

On Easter Sunday (last sunday), i began a devotional book for couples with my husband called Night Light by Dr. James and Shirley Dobson.

It's designed to last one story/devotional per night for six months. So far, we have gotten into bed and read it every night together. I find it a very wonderful end of the day "ritual". We talk about our marriage and what makes us happy (or not) and it's been very pleasant so far :) Looking forward to what the next six months bring!
